North West Bike Itinerary

3 Nights / 4 Days

Day  1    Salta - El Carril - Cardones National Park - Cachi (L)

After breakfast, we travel by truck to the south of the city. We arrive at the village producer of Virginia tobacco, El Carril, and from there, we enter in the Escoipe Gorge. After climbing the Cuesta del Obispo (Bishop Slope), we came to the Piedra Del Molino (3,348 mts.), where we prepare the bicycles to begin our cycle, crossing the Cardones National Park.  After about 52 km, crossing Payogasta, we arrived at the village of Cachi situated at 2280 meters, where we spent the night.

Day 2    Cachi - Molinos (L)

After breakfast at the hotel, we make two circuits in the surroundings of Cachi. First The Pailas Inside, we go along in direction of the highest mountain in the area, the Nevado de Cachi (6380 mts). We arrive at “Cachi Adentro” and we cross to the archeological site of Las Pailas. Second circuit is the Airport and Cemetery Circuit.
When the tours end, we are ready to ride the 55 km that separate us from Molinos.
We transit the right side of the Calchaqui River, visiting places such as La Paya and El Colte, to the birthplace of the handcraft of Salta, The way of the Artisans.
In Seclantas, we make a stop to join forces and tackle the hill that separates us from Molinos, where we spend another night under the magical Calchaqui sky.

Day 3   
Milonos - Angastaco - Cafayate (L)

After breakfast we take a city tour on bikes around the town of Molinos, ideal for taking good pictures. After that, we travel by truck 40 km to the village of Angastaco, along the legendary Route 40.  On this journey will have the opportunity to capture the best images of agricultural production in the Calchaqui Valleys.
In Angastaco we start pedaling through the narrow Gorge of the Arrows (Quebrada de las flechas).  We arrive in San Carlos and continue on the truck to Cafayate.  In Cafayate we spend the last night of the trip. 

53 km of dirt & paved roads.  Elevation gain 550m uphill 560m downhill

Day 4    Cafayate - Salta (L)

Today, after breakfast, we go on bike to discover some local wineries that produce mainly Torrontes wine. After we leave the village and begin our cycle in the Quebrada de Las Conchas, we stop to at attractions like the amphitheater, and La Garganta del Diablo, among others.  In Alemanía, back at the beginning of the Lerma´s Valley, we complete the journey, and we come back to the city in the truck.
