Day 1 Trujillo
Arrive Trujillo transfer to your hotel.
Day 2 Trujillo (B)
Early in the morning head to the southern part of Trujillo to visit the main religious center of the Mochica culture, the Huacas del Moche. Built around the 5th century,these two adobe monuments served as the center for one of the earliest polities of Peru.Admire the Huaca del Sol, the largest adobe structure in the world, and Huaca de la Luna, which is covered with beautiful and vibrant polychrome murals that cover even earlier vibrant polychrome murals.This afternoon,visit to the Chan-Chan complex,the capital of the ancient Chimu empire. It was a large metropolis, aproximately 20 kilometers wide.Just 3 miles from Trujillo and close to the ocean, it is estimated that Chan-Chan had a population of 50,000 to 60,000.This adobe city also contains nine enormous distinguishable enclosures,each constituting a smaller city within the larger urban center.
Day 3 Trujillo-Chiclayo (B)
Transfer by coach from Trujillo to Chiclayo,about 3 hours north.This afternoon visit Tucume,a vast Sican archaeological complex that's over a thousand years old and flanks an imposing hill from which the extensive pre-Columbian urban site can be surveyed. The remains of this site belong to successive cultures:the Mochica,Sican, Chimu and Inca.The tour ends with a visit to the on-site museum.
Day 4 Chiclayo (B)
Visit the impressive Necropolis of Huaca ajada,where the famous Lord of Sipan and the Old Lord of Sipan were unearthed in 1988 and 1989 respectively.Their discovery ranks among the most important finds in Peruvian history and shed much light on the Moche culture. Many of the tombs belonged to prestigous members of the Moche world and were adorned with elaborate costumes made of gold and copper. Afternoon transfer to the airport.
